Having your own home based business and earning a decent income whether you're at home or enjoying a relaxing afternoon at the beach or enjoying a coffee at Starbucks has become a reality for a lot of people due to the Internet. Using a laptop and an Internet connection, people can now easily make money wherever they are by selling information, writing for others, rendering online services, or simply recommending products. 

I myself am a living testimony of this new lifestyle that the Internet brings. Until the mid part of 2009 I was a struggling programmer. Don't get me wrong, I do love my work but I was burdened by the fact that I was only earning enough to make ends meet. The money I made back then was only enough to cover for basic expenses. That was until I tried to build my own home based business. 

Having technical background in computers and technologies, the first home based business idea that came to mind was Make Money Online. I've heard a lot of stories of people making decent money online, so I said to myself, heck, why not try it too. So, that's how my online ventures started. I tell you, it ain't easy. I had to do a lot and research a lot. In fact, it was only after a year that I saw some results from my online efforts. 

I had to learn a lot of things, from blogging, paid-to-click programs, Google's Adsense, to Website Flipping. I tried to learn a lot about these topics and implemented some of them. It was hard at first. Learning things I totally had no idea about. Implementing them using a slow computer was also draining my energy, I came to a point where I was desperate already, thinking about the upcoming bills didn't help either. Although, through it all I made up my mind to continue, to just keep on doing and applying what I learned, and after a year of effort, things finally happened. 

My first sale was a 7 Dollar Pre-Selling e-book, it contained step by step instructions on how to convince people to buy products. I myself learned something from it and so, I decided to promote it.

Even with such a small amount I felt over-joyed! The money came in straight to my PayPal account because I was selling an MRR e-book. These kinds of e-books allows you to re-sell them for profit after you bought it. Mine came as a free giveaway that includes resale rights. 

After that came some Clickbank sales, but even though I earned nearly $200 from Clickbank, I didn't enjoyed it as much as selling items that pay straight to PayPal. You see Clickbank has some threshold or minimum payment amount and some condition you have to meet before they send you a check unlike selling with PayPal where you'll automatically get the money in your account. 

But the biggest success I had was when I was hired as a freelance blogger by a successful Internet marketer. I was paid $20 for two articles and $15 daily to create Web 2.0 sites like Squidoo, Hubpages, and Weebly. That was last August, 2009. It was when my home based online business started growing, and so, I decided to give it 100% of my time.

However, the success I enjoyed by writing was cut short early this year. My employer somehow had to venture on something else and he no longer had a use for my writing services. So he fired my ass and we parted as friends. Luckily, a month before, I was already creating Keyword Miner 1.0 - a keyword tool I designed to help Internet marketers find profitable, long tail keywords they can use in their articles and websites.

So, from August to December 2009, I made more than $5000.00, I was fired exactly on the first day of the New Year and made more than $500 on my own in two weeks, selling my own product online.  

Today, I'm on the process of creating more products, uploading more items for sale and creating more websites. It's not easy, but I make a decent living out of it, and I'm working at home. I still go out to offline clients from time to time but It's because I like to, and not out of necessity. A little extra here and there won't hurt right? :) 

As for this website, I made it to help all those who are looking for ways to make money online or start a home based business. Again, these days, having your own profitable home based business is no longer just a dream, with the Internet, you can make it a reality. The Internet doesn't discriminate whether you are a multi-national placing an ad or a 12 year old child trying to make your mark by blogging. It levels the playing field, and if you know how to work hard, you just might make it!
